Chrysler today celebrated the production of the first production version of the Dodge Dart at its assembly plant in Belvidere, Ill.
The Dart is Chrysler’s first compact car in years and was developed from the same platform as the Alfa Romeo Giulietta. As such, the car symbolizes the marriage of Chrysler and Italian automaker Fiat.
Chrysler said that the first vehicle off the line was a red Dodge Dart Rallye with a black and red interior.
The 2013 Dodge Dart will be available in five trim levels with a starting U.S. manufacturer’s suggested retail price of $15,995. The first Darts will begin arriving in dealer showrooms in June.
