Mopar '13 Dart: The Stylish Sedan With Bad-Boy Attitude
Every Dodge Dart leaves the Belvidere, Ill., factory with attitude, but only 500 will reach dealers with Mopar attitude right off the truck. Dealers are taking orders now for the limited-edition 2013 Mopar '13 Dart, which carries a manufacturer's suggested retail price of $25,485 (plus $995 shipping).
The Mopar '13 Dart arrives this summer. Each wears a signature Pitch Black exterior with offset Mopar blue racing stripe running from nose to tail. That's a color scheme similar to previous Mopar editions of the Dodge Charger, Challenger and Chrysler 300.
Inside, the seats are covered in Katzkin leather. The driver's seat is Mopar blue with black accents while the rest of the seats are black with blue accents. The steering wheel and shift knob get black leather coverings with blue stitching. Black is the dominant theme throughout the rest of the cabin, with Mopar blue lighting accenting the instrument panel.
Power for the Mopar '13 Dart comes from the MultiAir turbocharged and intercooled 1.4-liter four-cylinder engine, rated at 160 hp at 5,500 rpm and 184 lb-ft of torque, mated to a six-speed manual transmission. The car announces its arrival with a Mopar sport-tuned exhaust.
Ride height of the Mopar '13 Dart is 7 millimeters lower than the base Dart and that low and mean look is accented with a Mopar ground effects kit – chin spoiler, deck-lid spoiler, and rear diffuser – and low-profile 225/40R18 tires mounted on gloss-black 18-inch wheels. The Mopar '13 Dart also gets premium disc brakes with slotted rotors and a revised calibration for the power steering.
Additional features on the Mopar '13 Dart include an 8.4-inch Uconnect screen, wireless charging for smartphones, bright sport-pedal kit, door-sill guards and premium Mopar floor mats.
Each Mopar '13 Dart will be delivered with a personalized owner kit in a custom-made black case. The kit includes a personalized plate with vehicle specifications, unique identification number and production date; a limited-edition sketch of the car signed by Mark Trostle, Chrysler Group Chief Designer for the Mopar Brand; a copy of the Mopar '13 Dart brochure and other memorabilia.
You can learn more and find your nearest dealer on the Mopar '13 Dart page, or view more images on our Mopar '13 Flickr set.

2014 Jeep Cherokee has Industry-First Nine-Speed Auto
Published on Mar 28, 2013 by AutoguideVideo
When the car goes on sale late this summer it will be offered with a 2.4-liter four-cylinder with 184 hp and 171 lb-ft of torque, or a 3.2-liter Pentastar V6 with 271 hp and 239 lb-ft of torque. The four-cylinder option is expected to get up to 31 mpg on the highway while the V6 is expected to be 30 percent more fuel efficient than the outgoing Liberty’s V6.
Jeep’s sales are currently passing through a lull — something largely attributed to the Liberty leaving production. Now the brand is hoping the Cherokee will serve as a lynchpin, hoping to topple its 701,626 global unit sales from 2012.
The Cherokee might offer what Jeep needs to do that for at least two reasons. First, it’s shares a platform with the Alfa Romeo Giulietta and the Dodge Dart. That will serve to reduce costs, but it could also help boost global appeal as a capable utility vehicle with a car’s on-road characteristics. Second Jeep is already boasting about its new independent front and rear suspension, increased torsional stiffness, and an exceptionally quiet cabin — all aspects that wil likely bolster broad market appeal.
Even with all that, the Cherokee is also meant to be an off-road ready crossover and the 3.2-liter V6 will offer buyers the power it will need to maintain that ideal.
But what about its drastic design? Is this really a viable replacement for the boxy-like-a-bread-truck Liberty? That has yet to be seen, but if there’s one thing Chrysler is doing very well, it’s staying in the spotlight.

Durango Shows Off New Face
Published on Mar 27, 2013 by tflcar
New York — Chrysler Group LLC will today unveil a significantly refreshed version of its Dodge Durango sport utility vehicle at the New York International Auto Show. It's another example of the automaker's effort to turn around its product lineup.
A close relative of the newly redesigned Jeep Grand Cherokee, the 2014 Durango will feature an upgraded interior designed to make the most of Chrysler's latest infotainment technology and an eight-speed transmission that promises to boost fuel economy up to 9 percent.
Unlike the 2014 Grand Cherokee, the seven-passenger Durango will not offer a diesel option — at least not initially.
The Durango has an entry-level price of $30,000, making it attractive to younger buyers, the company said.
"The vehicle is fundamentally an all-new vehicle," said Reid Bigland, chief of the Dodge brand.
It has a new exterior with a bolder front face, new interior and new powertrain. It has LED rear lights inspired by the Charger and Dart.
Chrysler has added heated second-row seats and a heated steering wheel to the new Durango, two options that are "off the charts," Bigland said.
He said the Durango "caters to young families." Bigland said 59 percent of buyers are young families.
The average age of the Durango buyer is in the early 40s, about 10 years younger than average for the full-size SUV market. Chrysler has had success in convincing buyers to opt for pricier versions.
Built off the same platform on the same Detroit assembly line as the Grand Cherokee, the Durango continues to be upstaged by its sibling. Last year, Chrysler sold 42,589 Durangos, down 17.6 percent over the previous year. It sold 154,734 Grand Cherokees, up 21.1 percent compared to 2011's tally.
But Chrysler says it needs both vehicles in its portfolio. And Bigland says there is not a lot of cross-shopping between the two models. The Durango has three rows of seating; the Grand Cherokee has two.
The new Durango will be available with either a 3.6-liter Pentastar V-6 that generates 290 horsepower and 260 pound-feet of torque or 5.7-liter Hemi V-8 that offers 360 horses and 390 pound-feet of torque — with an expected 25 mpg fuel economy.
The V-6 version offers best-in-class towing capability of 6,200 pounds, while the V-8 can pull another 1,200 pounds.
Chrysler has not said when the Durango will begin shipping.

2014 Jeep Cherokee Leaked Photos + Interior Spy Shots!
Published on Feb 24, 2013 by NasahrSandi9
The compact Jeep Cherokee is based on the same platform as the dodge dart. But the Cherokee will be very capable off road just like every jeep with it's available AWD. It's car based underpinnings will insure a comftorble ride and a fun to drive nature. It replaces the dated Jeep Liberty. It should get around 30 mpg on the highway and the standard features list will be very extensive. Look for the Cherokee to have a very affordable price tag of around 20-25K.

In this exclusive TFLcar first drive review we take the brand new diesel Grand Cherokee off-road to see how the massive amounts of diesel engine torque really work when the road disappears. Jeep, Ram Super Bowl Ads Gain Applause
Posted on February 4th, 2013 • by Bill Cawthon/allpar.com
“Not gonna lie. That Jeep commercial made me cry.” “If you didn’t see it, you need to!” The buzz is up on the Internet: Chrysler Group has scored again. The two two-minute ads created for Super Bowl XLVII were hits, receiving positive responses from viewers and pundits alike. “For the past two years, we have used the largest television viewing audience to highlight the pride, the resilience and the determination that form an integral part of the American character,” said Chrysler CEO Sergio Marchionne. “Both the Jeep and Ram Truck brand’s campaign videos express Chrysler Group’s commitment to America and to helping build a better future for this great country.”
The Jeep commercial, entitled “Whole Again” aired first. “Whole Again,” narrated by Oprah Winfrey and featuring visuals centered around American families waiting for their loved ones in the service to return. Chrysler calls it a “heartfelt letter” from the Jeep brand and American people to the service men and women of U.S. Military. “It was an honor to lend my voice in support of those that serve us all,” said Winfrey. The various Jeep vehicles glimpsed in the ad carry the markings of Operation S.A.F.E. Return, a charitable fund created by Jeep brand in cooperation with the USO to help returning military personnel with the transition to civilian life. Operation S.A.F.E. Return is funded in part by the donation of $250.00 from the sale of every 2013 Jeep Wrangler, Wrangler Unlimited and Patriot Freedom Edition vehicle. “Whole Again” was created through Jeep brand’s partnership with GlobalHue of Detroit. If you missed it, the spot can be viewed at the Jeep website, www.Jeep.com/OSR, and on YouTube site at www.youtube.com/jeep. On the Jeep website, visitors can find information about how a post on Twitter can trigger a $1.00 donation to Operation S.A.F.E. Return.
The new Ram Truck spot, “Farmer,” was based on “So God Made a Farmer,” a tribute created in 1978 by the late Paul Harvey. It was part of a speech to a Future Farmers of America (FFA) convention and it was based on the Biblical account of the creation. In Harvey’s speech a caretaker was needed for the new world, so, on the eighth day, so the farmer appeared. The ad uses a recording of the legendary radio broadcaster reading his work. Ram commissioned 10 noted photographers including National Geographic’s William Albert Allard and documentary photographer Kurt Markus to capture images of American farm life that were edited into a compelling visual. The Ram brand has pledged up to $1 million to the National FFA Foundation based on the number of times the video is viewed. “Farmer” was result of collaboration between Ram and the Richards Group of Dallas, Texas.

Ram Trucks Super Bowl Commercial "Farmer"
Published on Feb 3, 2013
And on the eighth day, God looked down on his planned paradise and said, "I need a caretaker." So God made a farmer.
God said, "I need somebody willing to get up before dawn, milk cows, work all day in the field, milk cows again, eat supper, then go to town and stay past midnight at a meeting of the school board." So God made a farmer.
God said, "I need somebody willing to sit up all night with a newborn colt and watch it die, then dry his eyes and say,'Maybe next year,' I need somebody who can shape an ax handle from an ash tree, shoe a horse with hunk of car tire, who can make a harness out hay wire, feed sacks and shoe scraps. Who, during planting time and harvest season will finish his 40-hour week by Tuesday noon and then, paining from tractor back, put in another 72 hours." So God made the farmer.
God said, "I need somebody strong enough to clear trees and heave bales, yet gentle enough to yean lambs and wean pigs and tend the pink-comb pullets, who will stop his mower for an hour to splint the leg of a meadowlark."
It had to be somebody who'd plow deep and straight and not cut corners. Somebody to seed, weed, feed, breed, and brake, and disk, and plow, and plant, and tie the fleece and strain the milk, . Somebody who'd bale a family together with the soft, strong bonds of sharing, who would laugh, and then sigh and then reply with smiling eyes when his son says that he wants to spend his life doing what Dad does. "So God made a farmer."

Chrysler Reports $1.7 Billion Net Profit For 2012
Posted JANUARY 30, 2013 by Charles V. Tines / The Detroit News
Chrysler Group LLC reported a net profit of almost $1.7 billion for 2012 Wednesday and fourth-quarter earnings of $378 million.
That was an eightfold improvement over the $183 million the company earned in 2011 and offered further proof of the automaker's turnaround. But CEO Sergio Marchionne stressed that Chrysler's recovery is still a work in progress.
"While we are pleased to have achieved strong financial results in 2012, the enterprise we are crafting is not complete," he said in a statement.
"The goals we've set for the year ahead reflect a common desire by everyone from leadership to the shop floor to succeed and sustain the power of the house we are building," Marchionne continued. "Our aim is meaningful, but it is not complicated, and only a preoccupation with quality can achieve it.
"We pause for a moment to enjoy our accomplishments, but we will not stop. Our continued achievement relies upon maintaining a humble spirit and an intense focus on the integrity of our work. And so we press on."
Last year was an epic year for Chrysler, which posted quarter after quarter of solid profits and market share gains less than three years after emerging from bankruptcy. But 2012 was a hard year for Fiat, which struggled as European automobile sales continued to decline in the face of an ongoing regional economic crisis.
When Fiat took over Chrysler as part of a 2009 bailout agreement brokered by the Obama administration, many analysts on both sides of the Atlantic worried the Auburn Hills automaker would drag the Italian manufacturer down with it. Instead, Chrysler has become Fiat's salvation, its growing profits offsetting Fiat's mounting losses.
"Chrysler concluded a very successful 2012 with a robust fourth-quarter performance," said analyst Jesse Toprak of TrueCar.com in a report released Tuesday.

What The Next-Generation Minivans May Look Like
Posted on January 21st, 2013 • by David Zatz/ allpar.com
Though the architecture for the next-generation Chrysler minivans has been finalized, the actual vehicles have not, as Chrysler wrestles with customer desires and market issues. CEO Sergio Marchionne has said numerous times that he intends to whittle the two minivans, which were nearly identical from 2008 to 2010 and are now differentiated largely by price and features, down to a single van. This could make it easier to continue winning the #1 sales position over Toyota and Honda; while Chrysler has always had the highest combined minivan sales (Dodge plus Chrysler), Honda has (though not in 2012) grabbed the #1 sales spot for Odyssey over either Caravan and Town & Country. But which would be turned into a crossover, and which would stay the minivan?
In Canada, the Dodge Caravan is king of the minivans; in the US, the Dodge is more of a fleet standby, with Chrysler Town & Country getting most of the retail sales. While the company could opt for a split solution — Chrysler Town & Country in the US, Lancia/Chrysler Voyager in Europe, and Dodge Caravan in Canada — that would be messy, as the crossover in the US would likely be the Dodge Caravan. It would complicate near-border ad campaigns, production, and more — since styling would also need to be different. One solution, of course, would be keeping both as minivans, but making the Dodge much more of a Dodge — increasing its sportiness in look and feel, and making it a niche vehicle in the US, with more options in Canada. In both countries, the Chrysler minivan would be what it is now — an upscale, conventional minivan. By giving the Dodge more of a performance emphasis, the company could also bias the Chrysler towards comfort rather than cornering.
